Last Saturday we were headed through Nashville on our way to Kentucky for a quick visit with family. Since it was lunchtime we decided to stop. I thought I wanted a burger so a quick search online located what is now a new favorite.
Located in the Historic Greenwood District, The Pharmacy, Burger Parlor and Beer Garden proved to be a gem of a find. Modeled after a traditional German biergarten the menu boasts some of the more favorite traditional German fare. I’m more of a schnitzel lover, but my husband, Mac, loves all types of German sausage so he had the currywurst with kraut. Mac doesn’t eat kraut – unless we’re in Germany or at The Pharmacy! Mac & I have both lived in Germany and his take was it ranked up there with authentic brats but we both thought the buns were way above any we’ve had. Of course, it is a beer garden so there was a really good selection of imported and local brews.
My favorite part of the whole place? No T.V.’s. It was very refreshing to watch everyone come in and actually carry on a conversation and not be distracted by the T.V. This is a great hangout for couples, girls night out or date night.
One word of warning – they don’t take reservations. However, they do use the nowait app. It allows you to put your name on the wait list before you get there. Sure you could call but why do that when the app does it for you? By 11:40 a.m. the line was out the door. You can download the app here nowait or on your iPhone and Android.
If you happen to be in Nashville this weekend head on over to the 37th Annual Oktober Fest. It’s this weekend and has a Kinder park and is dog friendly!
